Boss Fight Studio (AMAZING) Bucky O’Hare and First Mate Jenny Action Figures!
Bucky! Captain Bucky O’Hare!
Boss Fight Studio’s AMAZING Blast from the Past!
We got to unbox these AMAZING Bucky O’Hare and First Mate Jenny Action Figures that were sent over our way from Boss Fight Studio and Continuity! There was a lot of joy and nostalgia in this unboxing. Bucky O’Hare and the Toad Wars was a huge part of my childhood as you can tell from my excitement in the video. (I gave out Bucky O’Hare Valentine’s in school.)
Bucky O’Hare was a name I didn’t think I would hear being thrown around again any time soon. When I heard Boss Fight Studio had acquired the Bucky O’Hare license and were moving forward with it… well let’s just say I was more than a little bit enthusiastic. These action figures capture the characters perfectly. Plus, collector friendly card backs? THAT’S AMAZING!
Yup, these Bucky O’Hare action figures have collector-friendly card-backs. This is an amazing feature. Now we have the option of displaying a figure loose in our displays without destroying the packaging.
This is great for if you are running out of room in you collection but don’t want to downsize. The figure can be placed back onto the card for wall or peg displays. This gives plenty of time to work out new spots or just displaying with the great backing card art.
The card backs are surrounded by a plastic lip as can be seen in the unboxing video. You lift one of the 4 tabs up and the backing card just slides right out! No box cutters or scissors. No ripping everything apart. No sharp edges. No tear marks. Just PERFECT packaging!
Enough about the packaging, let’s see the figures!
Boss Fight Studio Captain Bucky O’Hare
WOW! This Bucky O’Hare figure just jumped right out of the comics and cartoon! Seriously, look at this figure!
Bucky comes decked out in his full Captain’s S.P.A.C.E. uniform. He’s got his fancy military-style pauldrons, cape, studded belt and blasters. This Bucky figure doesn’t mess around! The Righteous Indignation’s Captain has never looked better. What an amazing update to the old Hasbro line of the 90s.
However what shines even more on this figure is the articulation. Boss Fight Studio have shown with their Virtuvian H.A.C.K.S. (Highly Articulated Character Kit System) line of figures that they are masters of figure articulation. This figure is no different. You can get Bucky into a variety of different action poses to make your displays really pop. This is especially awesome if you are into toy photography.
Toy related Instagram feeds will love this figure! You can move every limb freely. There are plenty of ball joints and hinges in his 20 points of articulation and they are all blended into the figure well to not detract from the overall look.
Bucky has options!
Bucky comes with a few options for displaying as shown in the unboxing video. These include:
- 2 Blasters
- 3 Optional Faces
- 6 Optional Hands
- Detachable Cape
2 of Bucky’s hands are designed for holding the blasters. They both come in a grip style of hand. His other hands include 2 closed fists, one pointing hand and one open hand to really get those posing options in. He has 3 face options: one closed mouth and 2 open mouth. The 2 open mouth faces are VERY similar but they do have slight differences. Not enough to really go on about but the open and closed mouth are well defined and different. The cape is detachable by a simple peg hole on Bucky’s back but I think he looks WAY better with the cape so I’m definitely keeping that on him.
So Bucky looks AMAZING! So what about Jenny?
Boss Fight Studio First Mate Jenny Bucky O’Hare Figure
Well I’m glad to say that Jenny, in my personal opinion, is EVEN BETTER!
The First Mate Jenny figure in this line is incredible looking. She stands taller than Bucky (if you don’t include Bucky’s ears) keeping her in scale with her character. The silver on her outfit really pops with the black and the purple accents which gives it that very sci-fi look. The massively poofy hair and tail really add a lot of fun to her design. What makes her even more awesome…
This is the first ever Bucky O’Hare Jenny figure!
Jenny never received her 90s action figure.
That’s right. Despite being such a pivotal member of the S.P.A.C.E. crew she never received an action figure in the 90s. Toy companies had a much different way of thinking back then.
Hasbro apparently pictured Bucky O’Hare as a show only boys would watch and thought “No boys would want to play with a girl action figure”. This led to a massive injustice on poor Jenny in the 90s Hasbro action figure line resulting in her never getting a figure. No kid in the 90s had the complete crew in their toy box for their S.P.A.C.E. adventures.
Things are approached much differently nowadays. Boss Fight Studio has definitely brought us the action figure Jenny so desperately deserved and then some!
First Mate Jenny has First Rate accessories!
Boss Fight Studio gave First Mate Jenny even more options than Bucky! Jenny comes with:
- 4 Optional Faces
- 6 Optional Hands
- 2 Star Style Energy Effects
- 2 Blade Effect Energy Blasts
Jenny has an AMAZING set of face options: a wide-eyed smiling face, a more reserved happy face, a sassy determined face, and a winking face. All the face options are winning choices but I think my personal favorite is the winking face. It’s so cute and sassy and leads to excellent pictures.
Her hands include 2 fist hands, 2 hands that have a very “I’m launching a telekinetic attack feel” and 2 pointed hands that attach to her blade effect energy blasts.
The star and blade energy effects can be used separately or combined together for plenty of action shot and display options. Right now I have them combined on the shelf but I’ve played with plenty of different options.
Jenny is insanely articulate!
First Mate Jenny is CRAZY articulate. As stated above with the Bucky O’Hare figure, Boss Fight Studio made sure to carry over their great articulation into these figures. Jenny is highly pose-able. She can hold herself with many straight standing poses as well as all kinds of action shots with extended legs and battle poses. Once again, this is a figure perfect for toy photography enthusiasts.
Jenny has very small feet which you would think would hinder her display options. Many small base figures have trouble standing up. Boss Fight Studio has helped remedy this by making her tail work kind of like a stand. Almost an “extra leg” if you will. The fact that the tail articulates means you can maneuver it into positions that MASSIVELY help you hold those free standing action poses a lot of figures have trouble with.
Plain and Simple, They Are Perfect!
Boss Fight Studio DELIVERED!
I never really thought I’d hear much about Bucky O’Hare again until Boss Fight Studio announced it. My nostalgia was thrown into overdrive hearing about a new line of figures of one of my favorite childhood cartoons. I am so glad Boss Fight Studio not only came through, but exceeded my expectations! These figures were some of my FAVORITE FIGURES OF 2017!
I recommend these figures to ANY 90s cartoon fan, child of the 80s and 90s, toy collector and action figure fan in general! These are some of the coolest figures I own and Bucky O’Hare has never looked better than in these figures. Bucky and Jenny are sure to be permanent shelf mainstays in this collection.
